Anitha Devadason

I’m a climate change and health professional with a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and 10 years of experience turning big, complex problems into practical solutions. My career has taken me from global institutions to humanitarian frontlines—all with a focus on weaving climate resilience, sustainability, and health into the fabric of decision-making.

Along the way, I’ve worked with the World Health Organization to assess climate and health risks in the Pacific Islands (with findings presented at the World Health Assembly in 2018), advised the World Bank on climate change and health, and served as a peer reviewer for the Climate Policy Journal on issues of migration and displacement.

I’ve also published policy reports with the Rockefeller Foundation Economic Council on Planetary Health at the University of Oxford on planetary health, partnered with Harvard University on the Lancet Countdown on Climate Change alongside the lead author of the US brief, and contributed to the USGCRP 5th National Climate Assessment—the US government’s definitive report on climate impacts.

Most recently, my work took me to Ukraine as a humanitarian responder, where I focused on designing sustainability frameworks for aid operations. Standing in the middle of a crisis zone and asking, “How do we do this in a way that protects both people and the planet?” was a powerful reminder that climate change is not a distant issue—it’s woven into the emergencies we face today.

At the heart of all this, my motivation is simple: I want to make climate action smarter, more compassionate, and deeply human. Outside of work, I live by the same values I bring to my professional life—leaning into minimalism and sustainable living as daily practices. For me, it’s not just about policy or programs. It’s about showing, in both big ways and small, that a more sustainable future is possible.
